The Many Varieties of Hammock Swing

A hammock swing can be an odd looking thing when no one is sitting in it. It’s hard to imagine that anyone could get into one let alone be comfortable in one. In an odd sort of way a medieval torture device comes to mid when looking at one. But as weird as it may look a hammock swing is very comfortable once you’re sitting in it.

There are several different varieties of hammock swings. The basic models look like a regular hammock that’s been folded in half with a basket in the center. This basket is where the lounger can sit and enjoy themselves. These are the least expensive models you can find.

Another type of hammock swing is what is commonly referred to as an “Air Chair.” This is the Cadillac of hammock swings with a bucket seat made out of cloth which is suspended by an elaborate system of rope supports, wooden bars and cloth coverings. The “Air Chair” also has a feature mush like an ottoman that allows you to put your feet up. It’s very comfortable and relaxing.

The third type of hammock swing is not so much a swing but more like a chair that hangs from an overhead support. They are often referred to as “hammock chairs” and they normally have a cushion much like that found on patio furniture. With these particular types of hammock swings the distinction between hammock and porch swing tends to get kind of blurred.

While hammock swings will vary on price, depending on which type or style you decide on, for the most part they are not overly expensive. The “Air Chairs” are the most expensive and will cost as much as $200. The more simple hammock chairs are considerably less and will cost anywhere from $50 to $100. No matter which style you decide on you will spend countless hours relaxing in your new purchase.
