Why Does Anyone Purchase a Rope Hammock?
The rope hammock is usually made of several dozen ropes
woven into a pattern designed to hold at least one adult. The extra large
and extra-extra large models can easily hold more than one adult. While the
rope hammock may look uncomfortable it is actually quite relaxing to lie in
and is probably the most popular hammock on the market today.
While getting into a rope hammock the first couple of times might be kind of
intimidating once you get the hang of it is quite easy. The biggest problem
most people have with a rope hammock is getting tangled up in or getting a
button or zipper caught in the ropes. Some people worry about getting their
arms or legs pinched but this rarely ever happens.
Why are rope hammocks more popular than say a fabric hammock or hammock
chair? Well, the first of two reasons is that a rope hammock stretches to
accommodate the size of who ever may be laying in it. So after a few minutes
of laying in a rope hammock it conforms to your body shape and keeps you
from feeling like you could fall out, much like a fabric model might. The
second reason is that with the open rope weave the afternoon breeze flows
over all your body, making for a nice cool relaxing lounging experience.
There are a number of popular variations of the rope hammock on the market today. The most popular, perhaps, is the Island Bay model, which is a fairly standard rope weave with wooden bars on either side. The rope is made out of polyester and stretches nicely to fit several people on larger models. This model usually sells for around $100, but if you get a free-standing version, it may be cheaper.
